Dashboard
The AM dashboard compares the actual results of one SPV with one of its baselines. For each month of the period you choose, it shows how each asset performed against plan, electricity sales revenue and EBITDA for the SPV, and a profit and loss statement down to individual accounts. From most figures you can open the transactions behind them in Actuals.
To open it, go to AM > Dashboard in the side navigation.
Whether the AM section is available depends on your workspace. If you do not see it, contact us with the Get support button in the top navigation bar.
Before you start
The dashboard needs two things:
- An SPV. If the workspace has no SPVs, the dashboard shows Register a new SPV to process transactions. Click Go to SPVs to create one (see Creating and editing SPVs).
- A completed baseline for the selected SPV. If the SPV has no completed baseline, the dashboard shows No Baseline Detected. Click Set Up Baseline to go to Baselines. Baselines that are still being created, or whose creation failed, do not appear on the dashboard.
Actual figures come from the SPV's transactions in Actuals. Until you upload and allocate transactions, the actual values are empty or zero.
Choosing the SPV, baseline, and period
The controls at the top of the screen apply to every chart and table on it.
- SPV: The name of the selected SPV is the screen title. Click it to switch to another SPV. SPVs are listed by their Japanese legal entity name, in Japanese syllabary order. The first time you open the dashboard, the oldest SPV in the workspace is selected.
- Baseline: The completed baselines of the selected SPV, each with its ID. The newest ID is at the top. If you have not chosen one yet, the oldest baseline of the SPV is selected. The dashboard remembers your choice for each SPV.
- Date range: The period to analyze, chosen by month. It starts as the SPV's current financial year, based on the financial year starting month in the SPV settings.
- Current FY: Resets the date range to the current financial year of the SPV.
- Download Excel: Downloads every chart and table on the dashboard as one Excel workbook. See Downloading the dashboard.
- View settings: Two display options:
- Units: Auto shows amounts in yen with automatic scaling. Thousands shows every amount in thousands of yen.
- Use target date: Assigns each transaction to a month by its target date instead of its transaction date. Transactions without a target date stay in the month of their transaction date. See the transaction table in Actuals.
Portfolio benchmark
The Portfolio benchmark heatmap compares each asset of the SPV with the baseline, month by month. Each row is an asset and each column is a month of the date range. The color of a cell shows its value on a scale from the lowest to the highest value in the chart. Each asset also has an average over the period, which is used to sort the rows and is included in downloads.
Choose what to compare with Metric:
| Metric | Cell value | Average |
|---|---|---|
| Revenues | Actual revenue as a percentage of baseline revenue | Total actual revenue over the period as a percentage of total baseline revenue |
| Generation | Actual generation as a percentage of baseline generation | Total actual generation over the period as a percentage of total baseline generation |
| Performance ratio | Actual performance ratio minus the baseline performance ratio, in percentage points | Mean of the monthly differences |
| Availability | Actual availability minus the baseline availability, in percentage points | Mean of the monthly differences |
For Revenues, both sides use the revenue accounts of the chart of accounts. Actual generation comes from the meter and monitoring data recorded for the asset. For Performance ratio and Availability, a month only gets a value when both an actual and a baseline value exist for it. Months after today have no actual values.
Hover over a cell to see the actual and baseline values behind it: in yen for Revenues, in energy units for Generation, and as percentages for Performance ratio and Availability.
Display order sorts the assets by average ratio (descending or ascending) or by asset name (ascending or descending). By default, the assets with the highest average come first.
Clicking a cell opens the data behind it:
- With Revenues, Actuals opens with the revenue transactions of that month. See Opening Actuals from the dashboard.
- With the other metrics, the asset's Operations tab opens with its period starting at the beginning of that month.
The chart's download menu saves the heatmap data, including each asset's average, as CSV or Excel. You can also expand the chart to full screen.
Electricity sales revenue
The Electricity sales revenue chart shows monthly revenue as two bars per month: Baseline and Actual. Despite the name, the chart includes every account in the revenue category of the chart of accounts. Actual amounts exclude consumption tax.
Click a month to open the revenue transactions of that month in Actuals.
EBITDA
The EBITDA chart compares actual and baseline EBITDA. It uses the accounts in the operating revenues, cost of sales, and operating expenses sub-categories of the chart of accounts. Choose a format with the toggle above the chart:
- Monthly: Baseline and actual EBITDA for each month.
- Cumulative: Running totals of baseline and actual EBITDA from the start of the date range.
- Deviation: Actual minus baseline for each month. Months below the baseline are shown in a different color.
Click a month to open the transactions of the EBITDA accounts for that month in Actuals.
Both charts have the standard chart controls. You can switch to a Spreadsheet view of the values or download the data as CSV, Excel, or an image. If the selected baseline is still being created or its creation failed, the charts show Baseline is being created or Baseline creation failed instead of data.
Profit & Loss
The Profit & Loss table compares the profit and loss statement of the SPV with the baseline over the date range. Rows follow the structure of the baseline statement, and group rows can be expanded to show the lines and accounts beneath them.
| Column | Content |
|---|---|
| Actual | Actual amount for the period |
| Baseline | Baseline amount for the period |
| Deviation (yen) | Actual minus baseline |
| Deviation (%) | The deviation as a percentage of the baseline. A dash means there is no deviation, or the baseline is zero. |
The percentage deviation is colored by whether it is favorable. For revenue, asset, and equity rows, a value above the baseline is favorable (green). For expense and liability rows the meaning is inverted, so a value below the baseline is favorable. An arrow shows the direction of the deviation.
Working with the table
- Expand or collapse rows: Click a group row's name to expand or collapse it. Click the top-left corner cell to expand or collapse all rows at once.
- Hide 0-rows: Hides rows whose actual and baseline amounts are both zero.
- View transactions: Click a value in the Actual column and select View transactions to open the transactions behind that row in Actuals, filtered to the dashboard's date range and the row's accounts.
- Keyboard: Move between cells with the arrow keys. Press Enter or Space on a group row to expand or collapse it, or on an Actual value to open View transactions. Press Ctrl+C (Cmd+C on macOS) to copy the selected cell, row, or column as comma-separated text.
- Download: The download menu saves the table as CSV or Excel. In the Excel file, indentation shows the row hierarchy.
Opening Actuals from the dashboard
When you open transactions from the dashboard, Actuals opens on the Reconciled tab for the SPV selected on the dashboard. The filters are set to the period and to the Tensor accounts behind the figure you clicked:
| Where you click | Period | Accounts |
|---|---|---|
| A cell of the Revenues metric in Portfolio benchmark | That month | Revenue accounts |
| A month in Electricity sales revenue | That month | Revenue accounts |
| A month in EBITDA | That month | Accounts that make up EBITDA |
| View transactions in Profit & Loss | The dashboard's date range | Accounts of that row |
The period filters the target date when Use target date is on, and the transaction date otherwise. See Actuals.
Downloading the dashboard
Download Excel at the top of the screen saves the whole dashboard for the selected SPV, baseline, and date range as one workbook. A message shows while the file is prepared. The workbook has these sheets:
- Benchmark - Revenues, Benchmark - Generation, Benchmark - Performance, and Benchmark - Availability: The portfolio benchmark for each metric, with each asset's average.
- Electricity Sales Revenue: Monthly baseline and actual values.
- EBITDA: Monthly, cumulative, and deviation values.
- Profit and Loss: The profit and loss table.
Amounts follow the Units setting. If there is no data for the selected period, no file is created and the message No data available for the selected period appears.
