Introduction
What is an asset
An asset on Tensor Cloud represents one or multiple behind-the-meter systems that share a common grid connection point and can consist of solar PV, battery storage, and load components. Currently, an asset can have a maximum of one component of each type.
Assets are the smallest building block of your renewable energy portfolio on Tensor Cloud and can represent real-world physical systems in any stage of development, from early planning to post-COD.
There is no inherent limit to the number of assets you can manage on Tensor Cloud. Each workspace supports thousands of assets with balancing operations and financial management scaling with the size of your portfolio.
How assets relate to other building blocks
There are hierarchical relationships between assets and other building blocks on Tensor Cloud. The following table gives you an overview of how each entity relates to the other:
Building block | Relationship |
---|---|
SPV | One SPV can contain multiple assets. |
BG | One BG can contain multiple assets. |
Scenario | Each asset is linked to a single scenario. One scenario can be linked to multiple assets. |
PPA | Each asset is associated with one PPA. One PPA can be linked to multiple assets. |
How to create an asset
You can create assets either from the asset list using the Add new button, or from the asset map view by clicking anywhere on the map and creating the asset from the right sidebar.
Due to the complex data structure of assets, we are currently not supporting mass-creation of assets via CSV import. If you want to create your large existing asset portfolio in bulk on Tensor Cloud, please contact through the support button on the top right.
