Data coverage
The data coverage feature provides an overview of actual generation and load data availability for your assets. This helps you understand the completeness of your historical data and identify any gaps that may need attention.
Overview
Data coverage shows you:
- Coverage percentages for different data sources
- Visual heatmaps showing daily coverage throughout the year
- Detailed daily measurements for specific dates
- Summary statistics for overall data completeness
Accessing data coverage
- Navigate to your asset view page
- Select the Data coverage tab
- Use the controls to filter and explore your data
Data sources
The system tracks coverage from three main sources:
Meter data (confirmed)
Official meter readings from utility companies provide the highest accuracy and reliability. This data is used for billing and official reporting purposes.
Meter data (preliminary)
Preliminary meter readings are available before final confirmation from utility companies. While this data has good accuracy, it may be subject to revision and provides earlier insights.
Monitoring system
Real-time data from on-site monitoring equipment offers measurements that are useful for operational monitoring and performance analysis.
Controls and filters
Year selector
Choose the year you want to analyze using the year picker or navigate between years using the arrow buttons. Coverage is calculated for the full calendar year.
Data source filter
You can switch between Generation (solar power generation data) and Load (energy consumption/demand data) to view coverage for different data types.
Upload menu
The upload menu provides quick access to upload additional data. You can upload Meter data (official utility meter readings) or Monitoring data (system monitoring measurements) to improve your coverage metrics.
Visual components
Coverage heatmap
The heatmap shows daily coverage percentage as color intensity, where darker colors indicate higher coverage: You can click on any day to view detailed measurements for that date. Future dates are clearly marked and disabled.
- Dark = 100%
- Medium = <100%
- Light = 0%
- Neutral gray = future slots
Coverage summary
This section displays overall statistics including total coverage percentage since COD until the current date, across all sources, breakdown by source with individual progress bars, and the total number of available time slots for the selected period.
Daily measurements chart
When you select a specific date on the heatmap, this chart shows detailed measurements throughout that day, comparing different data sources side by side to help identify data quality and consistency.
Understanding coverage metrics
Coverage percentage
Coverage percentage is calculated as (Days with data) / (Total available days) × 100. Higher percentages indicate more complete datasets, with 100% meaning data is available for every day in the period.
Available slots
This represents the total number of days in the selected time period. The calculation accounts for asset operational dates (post-COD) and excludes periods before the asset became operational.
