Introduction
A special purpose vehicle (SPV) is a legal entity set up to own and operate renewable energy assets. On Tensor Cloud, SPVs usually form the top level of your portfolio hierarchy.
An SPV also collects the cash flows of every asset it owns. From these, Tensor Cloud produces a full set of financial statements and indicators for the SPV, which update whenever the underlying inputs change.
You can create as many SPVs in a workspace as you need. Each SPV can hold any number of assets, but an asset can belong to only one SPV:
Tensor Cloud also lets you model a PPA whose assets sit in different SPVs, which the diagram does not show. In practice this should be rare, because a PPA is a legal contract and is usually signed by a single legal entity.
Viewing SPVs
Select SPVs in the main navigation menu to open the SPV list, which shows every SPV in the current workspace. For each SPV, the list shows its ID, its Japanese and English names, the number of assets it holds, the total solar DC capacity of those assets, and when it was added and last updated.
Click an SPV's ID or name to open its detail view. It shows the SPV's total solar DC capacity and a table of its assets with their ID, name, solar AC and DC capacity, location, and COD.
Financial statements for an SPV are not on this page. You generate and download them from a baseline under AM > Baselines.
Creating and editing SPVs
To create an SPV, click Add new in the top right corner of the SPV list. The form has three sections:
- Legal: information about the legal entity
- Financial: equity, coupon payment, debt, expenses, and taxes
- Connections: the assets that belong to the SPV
While you create an SPV, Save and next saves the current tab and moves on to the next one. SPV settings describes every field.
To edit an SPV, use the Edit action at the end of its row in the SPV list, or the Edit button in its detail view. The row also has a Delete action.
