Sharing investment reports
You can easily share investment reports with external stakeholders, such as investors, lenders, or other parties involved in the financing of your renewable energy projects. Sharing investment reports does not require the recipient to have a user account on Tensor Cloud.
How to share an investment report
Reports can be shared either from the reports list, using the three-dot menu on the right side of each report entry, or from the report view, in which case you can click the Share button in the top right corner of the screen.
To share a report, you simply enter or paste a list of recipient email addresses and invite them through Tensor Cloud. You can choose the invite language using the dropdown menu on the right of the Send invite button.
The recipients will then receive an email with a link to the report and have to authenticate themselves using their email address.
Revoking access to a report
If you want to revoke access to a report, you can do so for individual recipients by clicking the Revoke access button to the right of their email address, or for all recipients by clicking the Revoke access to all button at the bottom of the share dialog. This will invalidate the link that was sent to the recipient and they will no longer be able to view the report.
Setting up access expiration
By default, recipients of an invite will have access to a report until you manually revoke their access. If you want to ensure that recipients only have access to a report for a limited time, you can set up access expiration. You can enable access expiration by clicking the toggle button at the bottom of the share dialog and choosing an expiration date.
Doing so will revoke access for all recipients at midnight, Japan Standard Time, on the selected expiration date. You currently cannot automatically expire access to a report for individual recipients.
Security considerations
When you share an investment report, you are sharing a snapshot of the financial and technical performance of the included assets at the time the report was created. The recipient of the report will not be able to edit or further share the report, but they will be able to print the page or take screenshots.
Tensor Cloud is using so-called magic links to share reports. This means that the recipient of the report will receive an email with a link to the report. The link is bound to the email address of the recipient, so even if they forward the invite email to someone else, the link will not work without re-authenticating against the email of the original recipient.
We consider this security approach a best practice for sharing sensitive information with external stakeholders. That being said, it is important to always double-check the email addresses that you share reports with and use access expiration whenever possible.
