Introduction

The AM (asset management) section of Tensor Cloud provides comprehensive financial tracking and reporting capabilities for renewable energy assets and the Special Purpose Vehicles (SPVs) that own them. Is is split into 3 sections that represent Tensor Cloud's key capabilities for helping asset managers with their daily tasks: Dashboard, Actuals, and Baselines.

Key capabilities

AM dashboard

The AM dashboard provides a high-level overview of the financial performance of your assets and SPVs. It allows to compare the actual financial performance of a given SPV against a baseline, and to drill down into individual accounts.

Financial actuals

The Actuals section allows you to upload and manage actual financial data for your assets and SPVs. Tensor Cloud currently supports ingestion of actuals in Yayoi Kaikei (弥生会計) format, a popular accounting software in Japan.

After uploading your raw journal entry data, Tensor Cloud allows you to map your accounts to Tensor Cloud's chart of accounts, and assign each transaction to a specific asset or the SPV. This enables you to compare your actual financial performance against your forecasts and budgets on a granular level.

Tensor Cloud can automatically allocate transactions to accounts and assets utilizing agentic AI.

Financial baselines

The Baselines section allows you to set up and manage financial baselines for your assets and SPVs. Traditionally, pro-forma financial statements are created in spreadsheet software, which can be error-prone and difficult to maintain, especially when having to apply wide-ranging edits or periodic updates. Tensor Cloud automates this process by generating financial baselines directly from asset simulation results. You control the baseline outputs by configuring your asset settings, PPAs, scenarios, and SPV settings.

How it works

  1. Define your portfolio structure - Create SPVs and assets, and set up PPAs and ownership structures
  2. Generate baselines - Create one or several baselines to create pro-forma financial statements
  3. Import actual data - Upload journal entries from your accounting system
  4. Map accounts and allocate transactions - Link your accounts to Tensor Cloud's chart of accounts, and assign transactions to assets or SPVs
  5. Compare and analyze - Review variance reports and drill into transaction details

Chart of accounts

Tensor Cloud uses a standardized chart of accounts designed specifically for renewable energy project finance. The accounts follow a five-category structure:

  • Assets (1xxx) - Resources owned by the project or SPV
  • Liabilities (2xxx) - Obligations and debts
  • Equity (3xxx) - Ownership interest and retained earnings
  • Revenue (4xxx) - Income from operations and other sources
  • Expenses (5xxx) - Costs incurred in operations
